Kew is a tough timber and plywood medium speed fishing or work boat. Speed about 11 knots with 88hp engine. To 15 knots with modern lightweight diesel to 150hp. 12mm (half inch) ply planking. Layout is forward cabin, wheelhouse and big cockpit with engine box. Hull shape is single chine and construction is conventional plywood on timber frames. The scantlings meet survey requirements. The layout is fairly basic consisting of a large cockpit, an enclosed wheelhouse and 2 berths forward. Kew was designed as a working fishing boat with a speed of about 11 knots in order to reduce transit time to and from the fishing grounds |
