Bollard 144. Steel 9 metre medium speed fishing or work boat. No mucking around with this tough little boat. A real income earner without costing the earth to build. Hull capable of speeds to 16 knots with modern diesel engine like Cummins 6BT. Single chine twisted waterplane hull designed for a good turn of speed. Hull form is conically developed. Plating 4mm. Bulwark is 600mm high all round.
Could be powered with up 210 hp for a speed of 16 knots or as low as 35 hp for a speed of about 7 knots. Ideal engine would be a naturally aspirated Cummins 6B of about 120 hp giving a speed of about 12 knots. 2:1 reduction gearbox. Interesting vessel, suit trap work where good speed is required to shortened the workinhg day and a stable platform is required to work from. Suit close offshore or estuary fishing, the latter where a length as defined under 9 metres is required for a fishing licence. Would also make an excellent workboat or club boat.
Where else can you find plans from professional designer for craft like this. The hull shot blasted and epoxy painted will last a life time if routine maintenance is followed. |
