Question

I would like to know the thickness of the plate for side, top and bottom? Also would it be fair to say that finished this boat would weigh close to that of a fiberglass boat of same size? I want to know if I have the garage to build and flip the hull. Thanks Mike

Answer

Can be 5mm minimum or 6mm for heavy duty. Material hull weight about the same as fibreglass. Care must be taken with outfitting weights, this is where production boats take great care. Machinery and fitting weights cannot be reduced much but inexperienced builders can over kill with too much unnecessary weight.. Do not use old diesels, you are wasting your money. Fit latest Yamars or Volvos.

Boat can be turned over but you need room. We did it with the first build is a workshop without a crane, but planned task and had all the gear and 6 men to assist
