What motor size is required to cruise at 18/20knots?
Answer
You would get 18 knots with a newer 4 cylinder diesel like a new Volvo or Yanma about 160hp or an oldere 6 cylinder like a Cummins ^BT at 210 hp would ge over 20 knots. THe older 4 cylinder Volv0 or Cummind at about 140 Hp would get you 18 knots lightly loaded
Depends on a lot on your use of the boat and how much you want to spend on a motor.A down angle gearbox 1.5 to 1 reduction is required
