Question
Can this design be configured to using diesel inboards and shaft drives? I’m looking for a cruising speed of between 12-20knots, with probably four people on board. Using the boat mainly for game fishing, trolling lures at around 6-7 knots. I’m looking for the best economy possible and the cheapest possible construction i.e. maranising truck motors to power it
Answer
I can fit the smaller light weight diesels into the hull and still maintain them. Will need a downangle gearbox. Shall modify the hull aft for you to swing a reasonable size prop using a 2 to one reduction gearbox and not have excessive draught. If you marinise a truck engine then the design of the marinisation will have to be carefully considered with oil change and oil filter facilities easily assessable. There is not all that much transverse room in the hulls. It is all a matter of planing ahead. Can be done and will be a good boat
